So, I've done a bunch of pinterest stuff since my last post. I've made a bunch of stuff for my classroom and been trying out recipes. Unfortunately, working full time and having three kids means sitting and writing a blog gets pushed so far to the back burner that it falls behind the stove... :)
Anyways, I saw this pin about making an advent calendar using
wilton brand favor tins and I just had to make one. We painted our living room and got new furniture since last Christmas, so my whole Christmas color scheme should match our "grown up" looking living room, right? Well, this is what I came up with after using
this blog post as my guide.
I chose to use scrapbook paper and stamps for the covers, but there is an awesome
printable freebie in the post I used. I also found it was hard to find a metal sheet and frame without spending a fortune, so I used a 12x12 magnetic board that I found in the dry erase board section of AC Moore. With the frame, they don't fit perfectly, so I will probably use a plate stand to display it, instead of hanging it on the wall.
Anyways, I hope you take the time to make this. It is super cute and my littles will love opening up the tins to find the surprise their dad and I have planned for them!
the dates after we punched them out and stamped them
putting magnets on the back of the tins
modge podge for the dates to glue into the tins
the finished product! we covered the metal board with a scrapbook paper scene of snowmen! Too cute :)
